Every year my mom, sister, aunt, cousin, and I all go up to Chicago to visit my sister. Two summers ago and we all went up to Chicago and boy was this summer going to be fun! We were all going to get tattoos. My mom didn't exactly like the idea and she didn't want me to get one. But she was finally convinced when my sister said it was a family thing. Family thing meaning that we were all going to get the same tattoo in the same spot. It was family bonding. The day came and I was so excited. We all took the train to the tattoo parlor. I can't remember the name of the parlor, but I was very impressed with it when I walked in. It was so clean, I couldn't believe it. It was the nicest tattoo parlor I had ever been in. It was time to get them. I was a little nervous but excited. We went up to the counter and said we all wanted to get tattoos. He asked for all of our ID's. I was only 17 at the time, but my mom was there and she was going to give me permission. Unfortunately they wouldn't let me get one unless I was 21, even with my mom there! They also wouldn't let my cousin get one because she didn't have her ID with her. The angering thing about that is she was 25 years old at this time AND she has 7 other tattoos. She asked them if her other tattoos were proof that she was old enough, but they said no because the age in other states is 18. We were all very angry because my cousin and I couldn't get our tattoos. My mom didn't end up getting hers but she was going to let me get mine. My two sisters got their tattoos and they look awesome! The tattoo is the symbol for eternity. My cousin got her tattoo about a month later and now it's just me. It's time for my tattoo and I plan on getting it on the day of graduation. So, after my long wait I will finally be able to get my tattoo. Yay for me!!!
